We did a mild renovation in our kitchen and needed a cooktop that fit in the hole that was already there in our countertop. This one was basically our only choice. When we moved in this house we had a stainless steel frigidaire from the 1960s. It was a beast to use and clean. They must have used stainless steel 2x as thick as this top. When we ordered this one we had thought the build quality would be at least on par with that one. We were wrong.
For the good: The stainless steel is polished nicely.
The bad: well just about everything else. It is very flimsy meaning that placing 4 large pots on it at once you can see the deflection of the metal. As you clean it it bends significantly. It bends so easily that it was damaged in shipping and with my hand I could fix the corner. While cooking you better keep an eye on everything closely. It seems to not be as adjustable as other tops I have owned or used. Turn it to 4 it is basically the same as 7. Its like the knobs are more of a guessing game for the amount of heat they will put out.
Overall: it is easy to clean (which is a major plus) and it works ok if you are watching it. So that is why I give it 3 stars.
